Govt. permits conditional bus fare hike

• Minimum fare to be increased from Rs. 12 to Rs. 14

The Government yesterday granted permission to increase bus fares on condition that loading of passengers will be limited to the seating capacity.

The increase will be on a 1.2 ratio with effect from today, the Transport Ministry said. Accordingly, the minimum bus fare of Rs. 12 will now be increased to Rs. 14.

However, the move has been agreed on condition that loading and transportation of passengers will be limited to the seating capacity of the bus.
