The Government has issued an Extraordinary Gazette notification revising the fees to issue and amend National Identity Cards from 1 November.

As per the price revision, the Department for Registration of Persons will charge Rs. 200 to register and issue a National Identity Card for a first-time applicant. Previously, for first-time applicants, only Rs. 100 was charged.

A fee of Rs. 1,000 will be charged to issue a duplicate National Identity Card in place of those that have been stolen or misplaced.

In addition, the fee to amend the details of the National Identity Card will now be Rs. 500, and Rs. 200 will be charged for issuing a new National Identity Card instead of an expired one.

The Gazette in this regard has been issued by the Public Security Minister Tiran Alles.
