Govt. rolls out kerosene subsidy

The Finance Ministry yesterday said a kerosene subsidy would be given to fishermen, Samurdhi recipients, hill country families and residents in areas with no power connectivity. “Fuel prices will be revised every two months. However, after due consideration, the Treasury will release necessary funds to the Social Welfare Ministry to cover subsidy expenses.” According to the Ministry, 47,555 households were given the subsidy from 10 May and over 24,000 fishermen would be given the subsidy from June.
