Govt. to provide financial assistance to flood affected farmers

Agriculture, Livestock Development, Land, and Irrigation Minister K.D. Lalkantha has assured the Ministry’s full support to help farmers impacted by the recent floods resume their agricultural activities.

During a meeting held at the Ministry with District Secretaries and officials from the Departments of Agriculture and Irrigation in affected areas, the Minister addressed the extensive crop losses and damage to irrigation systems caused by the floods. The Minister directed officials to provide financial assistance to paddy farmers for purchasing seed paddy and to establish an efficient system for fund distribution.

Additionally, District Secretaries and Irrigation officials were instructed to expedite the repairs to damaged irrigation systems to ensure farming operations can recommence without delay.
