Grave dangers of monkeying with system: BASL President warns

Bar Association of Sri Lanka outgoing President Saliya Peiris PC commenting on the issue relating to the printing of ballot papers says there are grave dangers of monkeying with the system in place.

Posting on his personal social media page yesterday, Peiris asked what will stop the Government Printer from refusing to print ballot papers at nationally important elections such as the presidential or parliamentary election if it refuses to print ballot papers for the Local Government elections.

“What will prevent a Government, present or future, from bringing a parliamentary or presidential election to a halt saying there are no resources. There are grave dangers of monkeying with the system,” he noted.
