Group of UNP activists in Kelaniya join SLFP to support President

A group of prominent UNP activists in the Kelaniya electorate met President Maithripala Sirisena on Tuesday at the President’s official residence and joined the SLFP.

They assured their fullest support for the program carried out by the President for the betterment of the country, the President’s Media Division said.

The former members of the Kelaniya local government Kanishka Samarasinghe, Norbert Perera and a former member of the Peliyagoda Urban Council Lakshman Perera were among the group of activists who joined the SLFP.

The Chief Incumbent of the Peliyagoda Rohana Viharaya Ven. Urapola Pemasiri Nayaka Thero and the SLFP Chief Organiser for the Kelaniya electorate Thilak Waragoda were also present at the occasion.

Mohammad Ismile Mohammad Shafi, who was appointed as a SLFP Organiser for Kandy District, received his letter of appointment from President Sirisena.
