HC summons second prosecution witness in Ravi’s case

The Colombo High Court yesterday issued summons on the second prosecution witness to appear in  Colombo High Court on 9 September to give evidence in case against former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake and Perpetual Treasuries Ltd. owner Arjun Aloysius over a bribery allegation.

The case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Mahen Weeraman and the Court issued summons on the second prosecution witness appear before Court on 6 September to give evidence for the prosecution.

The CIABOC filed indictments on six counts against Karunanayake for purchasing an apartment in Colpetty in 2016 with money from Arjun Aloysius. The CIABOC had indicted the suspects alleging that the two had committed an offence under Section 19 (c) of the Bribery Act.

The prosecution alleges that Aloysius paid Rs. 11.68 million for the apartment to Walt & Row Associates Ltd.
