Health officials confirm seven COVID-19 fatalities

Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 16,397 following the confirmation of seven COVID-19 fatalities on Saturday.

All seven COVID-19 fatalities confirmed on Saturday were over the age of 60. COVID-19 deaths from the under-30 and 30 to 59 age groups were not among those confirmed by health officials on Saturday.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 76.27% of the total COVID-19 fatalities are from the over-60 age group, 22.41% are from the 30 to 59 age group, and 1.32% are from the under-30 age group.

A total of 9,244 COVID-19 deaths confirmed to date are male and 7,153 COVID-19 deaths are female. Five COVID-19 fatalities confirmed on Saturday were male and two were female.
