The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) yesterday noted that heavy showers countrywide have left two people dead and affected 91,101 individuals from 27,381 families in 17 districts.
The affected districts include areas in the Uva and Southern provinces, along with Ampara, Batticaloa, Matale and Nuwara-Eliya.
Three people sustained injuries, and one house was completely destroyed.
The DMC has set up 13 shelters housing 876 people from 252 families.
Meanwhile, 17,247 people have sought refuge with relatives due to damage to 204 homes.
Fatalities were reported in the Polonnaruwa and Badulla districts, while heavy winds in Jaffna injured three. Authorities confirmed no disappearances or significant incidents so far.
Relief efforts are underway to assist those displaced and to assess damages caused.
