A high-level Vietnamese delegation comprising 35 members, led by Member of the Party Central Committee term XIII of the Communist Party and Provincial Party Committee of Vietnam (CPV) Secretary Bui Van Nghiem called on the Foreign Affairs Acting Minister Tharaka Balasuriya, on 17 November, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the call, a wide range of matters of mutual interest in the areas of political, trade and investment, culture, education and tourism were discussed. The commitment to further consolidate and enhance the bilateral cooperation between the two countries was reaffirmed at the meeting.
During the discussions, Sri Lanka’s application to join the Regional Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement was also given special focus.
The visiting Vietnamese delegation also called on Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena during their stay in Sri Lanka.
