IGP rushes to Batti to probe killing of two cops

A special team, led by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara, Senior DIG of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Police Spokesman, visited Batticaloa to probe the killing of two police constables.

The two victims were found dead with their hands tied and with gunshot injuries at the Vavunathivu police roadblock yesterday. Their weapons had been stolen too. 

The IGP posthumously promoted the two police constables killed at Vavunathivu, Batticaloa to the rank of Sergeant, Police spokesman said.
