Improving bilateral relationship between SL-Maldives Parliaments

SLMC Leader and Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education Rauff Hakeem met Maldivian Parliament (People’s Majlis) Speaker and former President Mohammed Nasheed, on the sidelines of attending SAARC

Higher Education Ministers Meeting which was being held in the capital city Male, and discussed matters of improving bilateral relationship between the Parliaments of both countries.  

The importance of maintaining close relationship between Sri Lankan and Maldives Parliaments was decided at a recent visit to Maldives by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe along with Minister Hakeem 

Minister Hakeem also met Maldivian Education Minister Dr. Ibrahim Hassan and held a dissociation regarding the possibility of providing necessary facilities to Maldivian students follow degree courses in medicine, engineering and law in 

Sri Lankan universities. University Grants Commission Chairman Prof. Mohan De Silva was also present. 

Meanwhile Secretary of Ministry of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education Priyantha Mayadunne too participated at the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Higher Education Ministers Meeting in Maldives.
