Indian NSA Ajit Doval meets AKD

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval who is currently on an official visit to Sri Lanka met with National People’s Power (NPP) Presidential hopeful Anura Kumara Dissanayake and MP Vijitha Herath in Colombo yesterday. The meeting took place at the Taj Samudra in Colombo. 

Speaking to the Daily FT, Herath said the discussion focused on the political relations between the countries, the current political situation in Sri Lanka, and the broader regional political landscape. He mentioned that the event also included discussions on how to strengthen and advance relations between India and Sri Lanka in the future.

Dissanayake also met with Doval in Delhi earlier in February this year during an official visit to India. Doval serves as the Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister of India on matters related to national security and strategic policy. Doval has held this position since 2014 and is considered one of the most influential figures in India’s security and intelligence framework. 

Doval also held meetings with several representatives of political parties based in the North and East on Thursday. He met with MP M.A. Sumanthiran and S. Sritharan of the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK), Selvam Adaikalanathan of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organisation (TELO), Dharmalingam Siddharthan of the People’s Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE), and Selvarajah Kajendren of the Tamil National People’s Front (TNPF).
