The International Sangha Forum 2023, a collaborative effort of numerous international Buddhist organisations, is set to unfold in the sacred site of Bodh Gaya, India, from 20 to 22 December.
This monumental gathering is poised to host around a thousand Buddhist monks from Sri Lanka, India, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, and many other countries, shaping up to be the most extensive assembly of the Sangha worldwide.
With its primary aim being the fostering of awareness and understanding among diverse Buddhist sects globally, the forum aspires to bridge the cultural gaps prevalent in the rich tapestry of Buddhist traditions. This historic event is anticipated to transcend boundaries and solidify a united front within the Buddhist community.
Operating under the thematic umbrella of ‘Bridging Traditions, Embracing Modernity’ the forum seeks to dismantle the barriers that have historically separated Buddhists on different paths.
The auspicious responsibility of organising and coordinating this significant event in Sri Lanka falls upon the Buddhist Brotherhood.
A distinguished delegation comprising Mahanayaka Theros, Anunayaka Theros and a group of revered Buddhist monks from Sri Lanka will grace the event in Bodh Gaya, symbolising the profound commitment of the Sri Lankan Buddhist community to this noble cause.
As the tranquil environs of Bodh Gaya bear witness to this landmark forum, it is envisaged that the collective spirit of Buddhism will resonate harmoniously, paving the way for a more interconnected and unified Buddhist world in the future.
