International support for St. John Sri Lanka

  • Launches a Social Enterprise Development Project 

 

Steven Wilson, Head of Chancery and Gareth Walker Head of Programs from the St. John International will be visiting Sri Lanka next week. 

This visit is to renew links between St. John International and St. John Sri Lanka, and to share understandings for upcoming support to the Association. A review of St. John Sri Lanka’s activity, systems, capacities and ambitions will be carried out.

St. John Sri Lanka Chairman Dr. Sarath Samarage said that St. John Ambulance Sri Lanka established in 1906, was chosen by the St. John International, as one of three Associations in the world to start the pilot project because of its long-standing performance and its desire to develop further. The Association has activities around Sri Lanka, including first aid training and public duties. 

The international visitors will be visiting the south and the north during their stay in Sri Lanka.

St. John International London, United Kingdom Head of Chancery Steven Wilson is Charity administrator responsible for the administration of Orders of Chivalry for the Order of St. John, also known as St. John International; International relations practitioner and former career RAF officer and diplomat with more than 10 years’ experience as a China political/military specialist including postings at the British Embassy, Beijing, and the Ministry of Defence, Whitehall. He has an international relations master’s degree and military experience flying as a weapons specialist and navigator on military fighter jets; and a keen interest in the visual arts, and a collector of contemporary art.

St. John International London, Greater London, United Kingdom Head of programs Gareth Walker is an experienced program and operations manager for INGOs delivering high quality impact in many African and Asian countries. He has a proven ability to provide skilled and relevant leadership on large scale programs funded by a range of institutional donors. He has managed projects funded by USAID, OFDA, DFID, ECHO, EuropeAid, and other donors. He has delivered quality programming in the following sectors: Food security, Livelihoods, DRR, SME development, WASH, and conflict resolution. In addition, he is a recognised emergency manager having been deployed in several early emergency responses for natural disasters and conflict alike.
