Interpol has issued notices of arrest for two Sri Lankan underworld leaders who are believed to have fled the country, Sri Lankan Police headquarters said.

Interpol, on a request made by the Sri Lankan Police, has issued a red notice on 33-year-old Jagamuni Sujeewa De Soyza alias Kosgoda Sujee and a blue notice on Samarasinghe Arachchige Madush Lakshitha alias Makandure Madush.

According to the police, Kosgoda Sujee has been involved in a number of contract killings and other crimes including drug trafficking. Madush is believed to be a major drug trafficker.

However, they are believed to be operating from overseas through a network of their local accomplices.

It is reported that the police will ask for Interpol notices to be issued for the arrest of several others from the suspects’ underworld network who have fled the country and are operating from abroad.
