The Itukama COVID-19 Health and Social Security Fund stands at around Rs 1.68 billion, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella told Parliament yesterday.
He said the money from the fund is used to maintain quarantine centres, to purchase PCR test equipment, to hold health advisory programs and to purchase ICU beds.
“A sum of Rs. 197 million has been spent for these requirements from the fund,” the Minister said in response to a question raised by MP Mayantha Dissanayake.
Rambukwella said he would shortly table in Parliament the details of foreign countries which have donated to the fund.
