Japan assures Ranil to support projects started during previous Govt.

Japan Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, who was on a three-day official visit to Sri Lanka, called on former Prime Minister and United National Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe on Friday in Colombo.

At the meeting, the Japanese Foreign Minister apprised the former Prime Minister that his Government expects to continue implementing the strategic projects started during the previous Government including the development of the Colombo Port East Terminal with the new Government as well.

Former Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said he had a productive meeting with Japan’s Foreign Minister and the Minister assured him that the initiatives begun during his Government would be pursued under the new Government.

The Foreign Minister of Japan has also pointed out that Sri Lanka should continue as a country of coexistence and strong international relations in the future also.
