Japan’s Finance Minister Suzuki Shunichi met with Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena at the Parliament complex yesterday.
The Secretary General of the Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera and the Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mizukoshi Hideaki also attended the meeting.
Minister Shunichi emphasised the enduring friendship between Japan and Sri Lanka. He conveyed Japan’s commitment to providing support for Sri Lanka’s economic stabilisation, signifying the collaborative efforts to strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
The meeting also delved into the ongoing developments in the friendship and potential avenues for future cooperation.
Speaker Abeywardana expressed his gratitude for Japan’s support towards
Sri Lanka.
He conveyed his optimism for sustained collaboration, expressing the hope that Japan would remain a key partner in the nation’s future endeavours and added that he hopes for Japan’s support in the future.
Separately, he met with Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa and a group of Parliamentarians representing the Opposition and engaged in a
discussion.
Japan’s Finance Minister was on a two-day official visit to Sri Lanka, which concluded
yesterday.
