Jayatilleka receives SL delegation from Police Medical Service

On 24-29 May, Saint Petersburg hosted the International Police Association gathering and brought together delegates from different countries. The IPA is the largest organisation for police officers in the world, founded by British sergeant Arthur Troop in 1950, in order to create a platform for friendship and international cooperation amongst police officers. The association has now 72 national sections and over 360,000 members and associate members.   

A delegation of the Sri Lankan doctors from Police Medical Service Division, including Police R/Senior Superintendent Dr. W.A.C.C. Ranasinghe, R/Superintendent Dr. Ravindra Basnayake MD/JP, and Chamary Suranjitha Imbulgoda, took part in the IPA meetings and visited military hospital within the framework of the IPA program to exchange experience and develop further cooperation in the Police Medical Service sphere.

On 31 May Ambassador Jayatilleka received the Sri Lankan delegation at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow. During the meeting, the delegates expressed their appreciation for the hospitality of the Russian party and briefed him on their participation in IPA gathering. 

Ambassador Jayatilleka and the guests discussed prospects for Police Medical Service development in Sri Lanka. 

Particular attention was given to cooperation in the field of education, including possibilities to receive higher education by Sri Lankan students in the Russian Medical Universities. 

The delegates also addressed the issues of future requirements of Sri Lanka for energy sources.
