Johnston attends SLPA Christmas Carols

The Christmas Carols program of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority was held on Thursday under the patronage of Minister of Roads and Highways, Ports and Shipping Johnston Fernando, at the port premises. It was presented by Christmas carol singers group of the Colombo Port.

In line with the program 200 school children were presented with books and stationery for the upcoming year; 75 of them were children of port employees and others from low income families of rural areas. 

The Catholic Association of Colombo Port has been organising this event over the years with the assistance given by the port employees. The Catholic Association of the Colombo Port was established in 1962 and it is the oldest religious association formed in the port.

The event was attended by the Parish Priest of St. Anthony’s Shrine, Kochchikade, spiritual guider of Catholic Association of Colombo Port, Sri Lanka Ports Authority Managing Director Captain Athula Hewawitharana, State Minister of Ports Development Kanaka Herath, a group of SLPA officials and port employees.
