The officers of the Sri Lanka Customs have arrested a Kenyan national at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) with a stock of cocaine worth over Rs. 300 million.
The 34-year-old Kenyan national, who is said to be a Kenyan car dealer, had reportedly travelled from Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa via Doha, Qatar and had then boarded a Qatar Airways flight (QR 654) bound for Sri Lanka on Sunday night.
Sri Lanka Customs Narcotics Control Division Officers, who became suspicious about his luggage, have found 180 capsules of cocaine weighing 4 kilos in total carefully hidden inside three metal cookie tins inside his hand luggage.
After arresting the Kenyan national and seizing the drugs he had brought, the Customs Narcotics Control Division Officers handed them over to the officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigations.
