Kerala cannabis worth Rs. 50 m seized in Anuradhapura

Two suspects have been arrested in Anuradhapura with a stock of Kerala cannabis valued at nearly Rs. 50 million, Police said yesterday.

The Police said more than 200 parcels of Kerala cannabis were found at a lodge in the Isurupura area in Anuradhapura.

Police have also seized a private bus which was being prepared to transport the cannabis to the Thanamalwila area under the pretext of carrying pilgrims. Several parcels of cannabis hidden in the bus were also found. The driver of the bus and another person have been taken into police custody and investigations are underway to arrest the owner of the lodge and a retired army member.
