Lankan woman found dead in Turkey earthquake

The Sri Lankan Ambassador to Turkey, Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanayake said the Sri Lankan woman whose information was not available to the Sri Lankan Embassy after the series of earthquakes in Turkey was confirmed to be dead yesterday.

The Sri Lankan Ambassador in Turkey said the woman’s body was found after rescue teams removed the debris from the collapsed building, in which the Sri Lankan lived, was cleared today.

The deceased woman was 64 years old and her body has been identified by her daughter who has arrived in the area where the female lived and a Sri Lankan Pastor in the affected area.

The woman had been living in Turkey with her Turkish husband and daughter for many years and has been identified as a resident of Galagedara, Sri Lanka.
