Litro Gas Chairman arrested and remanded till 25 Oct. over Taiwan bank hack

The Colombo Fort Magistrate yesterday ordered to remand the Chairman of Litro Gas Sri Lanka Shalila Munasinghe, who was arrested for stealing money from a Taiwanese bank, until 25 October.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday night arrested Munasinghe after he surrendered to the police through his lawyers. 

Munasinghe was arrested in connection with defrauding a Taiwanese Bank of $ 1.1 million. He is accused of hacking into the computer network of the bank’s headquarters in New York and fraudulently transferring the money into his account.

Litro Gas Lanka Ltd. has said that on the orders of the Minister of Public Enterprises Development Kabir Hashim, the firm has interdicted Munasinghe from his post.
