Litro Gas summoned to COPE today

  • Calls explanations for delay in unloading shipment

The Management of Litro Gas Lanka has been summoned to appear before the Parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) today to explain why the Company failed to unload a stock of gas that has been cleared by the Port on Wednesday.

The Chairman of COPE MP Charitha Herath decided to summon the Litro officials following a request by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The Prime Minister said the Company must explain why there was a delay in unloading a gas shipment.

“Till Wednesday night they had not cleared the shipment. When people are suffering, they have to expedite such work. We are all working late into the night to provide relief to the public,” he said.

Parliamentary officials said the management of Litro Gas Lanka Ltd., has been summoned to appear at 11 a.m. to explain the current gas shortage and how they propose to deal with it.
