The State owned Litro Gas Lanka, yesterday announced a reduction in LPG prices whilst the private sector supplier didn’t and cited a rise in global rates.
The revised price, made as per the formula, according to Litro chairman and CEO Muditha Peiris are as follows: 12.5kg cylinder – Rs. 3,638 (reduced by Rs. 100); 5kg cylinder – Rs. 1,462 (reduced by Rs. 40) and 2.3kg cylinder – Rs. 681 (reduced by Rs. 19).
Laugfs Gas in a statement said it will not be increasing the prices of its LP Gas products despite the recent increase in gas prices in the global market.
It said the global market price of LP Gas has been increasing steadily due to several factors, including rising demand for energy, supply chain disruptions, and geopolitical tensions. These factors have resulted in a sharp increase in the cost of production and logistics of LP Gas, which has impacted the prices of LP Gas across the world.
“Despite these challenges, Laugfs Gas remains committed to providing our customers with safe, reliable, and high-quality LP Gas at a reasonable price. We have made significant investments in our infrastructure and supply chain to ensure that we can continue to meet the growing demand for LP Gas in Sri Lanka. This was a strategic decision taken to ensure the longevity of our business, as well as to support our community and our partner network who have been with us throughout our journey,” the Company said.
It assured its customers that they will continue to monitor the global market situation closely and adjust their prices accordingly in the future, should the market conditions allow it.
