Local government elections on 20 Jan: Shantha Bandara

Sri Lanka Freedom Party Youth Front (SLFPYF) Chairman, Shantha Bandara has said that the Local Government Elections will be held on the 20th of January.

Speaking at a press conference held at the SLFP headquarters, the Chairman Shantha Bandara said that nominations would most likely be called from December. The relevant legal frameworks is now being worked, he added.

Shantha Bandara said Local Government elections will be held under the new Mixed Electoral System of division and proportional representation systems. There are 4836 single divisions, 122 two-member divisions and 4 three-member divisions, according to the SLFPYF Chairman.
