Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa can inform the party if he objects to his picture being used in a political campaign, Cabinet Co-spokesperson and Sri Lanka Freedom Party Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara said yesterday.

Explaining that Rajapaksa was still one of the four advisors of the party along with former President Chandrika Kumaratunga, D.M. Jayaratne and Chamal Rajapaksa, Jayasekara said that the party as a practice used the pictures of all former SLFP presidents in its campaigns.

“If he objects to it, then he can inform the party in writing,” he said.

He also said that the party formed by the Joint Opposition, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) should use the picture of their party leader Prof. G.L. Peris. He joked about the fate which he said had befallen his teacher Prof. Peris, whose picture has been set aside to make way for former President Rajapaksa. (CD)
