The March 12 Movement, a collective of civil society organisations, has requested all Members of Parliament (MPs) to use their votes against the Declaration of Emergency in Parliament.

The movement called for the immediate lifting of the prevailing curfew imposed countrywide, insisting that it will not resolve the multiple crises.

It also requested relevant authorities to refrain from rushing to use emergency powers against the public.

“The minimum opportunity created for the general public to express their views has been violated in an authoritarian manner,” they said. The March 12 Movement announced that it was therefore requesting the President to avoid such repressive measures and to treat all as equal citizens
