Muzammil mourns Mangala

Governor of Uva Province A.J.M. Muzammil, in a statement, said yesterday that Mangala Samaraweera’s untimely death is a deep personal loss to him and above all to the nation.

In a condolence message, Muzammil said Mangala has been instrumental in pushing national agendas, ensuring equality and diversity always played a pivotal role.

“As for me personally, he was supportive and encouraged me to take on the post as High Commissioner in Malaysia. He was always at the forefront of all my campaigns, working alongside my family, my supporters and myself. His ideologies and sense of far thinking whilst always putting a nation first will be more than a loss that we can all bear,” Muzammil said. 

“His more-than-large personality, sense of humour, his work ethic and love for the people of Sri Lanka will be forever missed by us all,” Muzammil added.
