Former DIG Nalaka de Silva was released on bail by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
He was released on a cash bail of Rs. 25,000 and two sureties of Rs. 5 million each by Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake. De Silva has been prohibited from leaving the country and ordered that investigations should not be disrupted by Silva. The Fort Magistrate accepted an appeal by de Silva’s lawyer to grant him bail, as no charges were filed under the Prevention of Terrorism (PTA) Act.
De Silva was arrested last year over an alleged plot to kill President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
