New DIG for Central Range

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Roshan Fernando has been appointed to Central Range with effect from yesterday.

Fernando joined the Police as a Sub Inspector in 1982 and has seen extensive service across all Police rangers islandwide.

He was one of the first officers in the first batch of the Special Task Force (STF) and received specialised training in Israel. He was in charge of Jaffna for over a year and was the DIG in charge of the Northern Range for two years. DIG Fernando has served in all parts of the country. 

He holds the longest service history of Police officers currently serving.
