The new UN Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka Marc Andre Franche met with Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) party leader Sajith Premadasa at the opposition leader’s office yesterday.
Issuing a statement, the SJB said Premadasa informed Franche of the current political situation in the country. The party said Premadasa also raised concerns about the violation of the people’s democratic and fundamental rights by the Government and the postponement of elections in the country.
The two parties also exchanged views on the country’s economic situation during the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by UN representatives Azam Bakeer Makar, Tharaka Hettiarachchi and SJB MP Dr. Kavinda Jayawardhana.
