The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court yesterday that their ongoing investigations have not uncovered any material evidence to justify the arrest of former Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara.
The CID appeared before the Court in response to a case filed by former Minister Nanayakkara for anticipatory bail. During the proceedings, the CID confirmed to the Court that there was no evidence to substantiate grounds for his arrest.
In response, Nanayakkara’s legal counsel, Saliya Peiris, PC, informed the Court that the former Minister remains fully committed to cooperating with the investigation.
He has voluntarily agreed to provide a statement to the CID regarding the matter related to facilitating job opportunities for Sri Lankans in South Korea.
