The total count of confirmed COVID-19 cases remains at 1,950, with no new cases reported in the last three days.
The last reported cases were on 20 June, when three returnees from abroad tested positive for COVID-19. A total of 691 local returnees from abroad have tested positive so far and the remaining eight imported cases are foreigners.
The Epidemiology Unit also states that 938 of the total cases are Navy personnel and their close contacts and 313 are other local cases. Of the total cases, 646 were identified among overseas arrivals at quarantine centres and 71 among local communities at quarantine centres.
In addition to this, 413 patients, including five foreigners, are currently under medical care at various hospitals, including 92 at the Hambantota District General Hospital, 78 at the Kattankudy Base Hospital, 77 at the Welikanda Base Hospital, 60 at the Teldeniya Base Hospital, 48 at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), and 26 at the Minuwangoda Base Hospital.
17 COVID-19 patients are currently receiving treatment at the Iranawila Hospital, seven at the Homagama Base Hospital, and four each at the Colombo East Base Hospital and Panagoda Army Hospital.
The Epidemiology Unit also states that the number of COVID-19 recoveries in the country has risen to 1,526, including 785 Navy personnel. A total of 28 persons recovered yesterday, including nine from the Minuwangoda Base Hospital, five each from the NIID, Welikanda Base Hospital and Hambantota District General Hospital, two from the Homagama Base Hospital, and one each from the Kattankudy Base Hospital and Teldeniya Base Hospital.
The Health Promotion Bureau states that 96, 268 PCR tests have been carried out so far, including 1,181 on Sunday. While the last case from the community was identified on 30 April, 31 suspect patients are under observation at various hospitals.
Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe yesterday issued recommendations on the reopening of cinemas. According to the statement by the Department of Government Information, cinemas will be permitted to reopen on 27 June if they adhere to health guidelines issued by the Health Services Director General. The management of each cinema will be required to hand over a declaration of agreement to the health officers of the area.
