OPCW Director General visits Sri Lankan Embassy to offer condolences

The Director General of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Fernando Arias, visited the Embassy of Sri Lanka in The Hague last week to express his condolences to the Government and people of Sri Lanka on the terrible loss of lives in the multiple terrorist attacks on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka. 

The Director General met the Ambassador of Sri Lanka A.M.J. Sadiq and conveyed his personal condolences, as well as those of the OPCW to the Government and people of Sri Lanka. The First Secretary of the Mission K.R. Ukwatta was also present at this meeting. 

In his statement, OPCW Director-General Arias offered his condolences to the people of Sri Lanka for the bombings that occurred on Sunday, 21 April.

Writing in the book of condolences offered at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in The Hague, Director-General Arias expressed: “When I write these words, I still have a feeling of incredulity thinking about the cruelty of the attacks targeting innocent civilians that occurred last Sunday. I express my solidarity with the people and the Government of Sri Lanka with my deepest respect, sympathy, and sorrow.”
