In commemoration of World Hearing Day, the Ratmalana Audiology Centre (RAC), a collaboration between Dialog Axiata PLC and the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind Ratmalana, will be conducting free hearing tests for the public from third to 16 March from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at RAC premises, No. 15, Borupana Road, Ratmalana.

Those who have trouble hearing are encouraged to book a free hearing test appointment by calling 0117 303 308 or messaging 0768 050 600 on WhatsApp.

The Ratmalana Audiology Centre was established in 2007 as a joint venture between Dialog Axiata and the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind, with the shared goal of creating a Centre of Excellence in hearing and speech therapy for the benefit of people with hearing and speech difficulties.

Dialog funded the establishment of the facility and continues to cover the maintenance related expenses and capital expenses. The fully-fledged facility equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, provides hearing tests, speech assessments as well as hearing and speech therapy at affordable prices, bringing such services within reach of the masses.

The facility is managed by the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind Ratmalana for the Deaf and as such students of the school receive free hearing tests and speech therapy services. Meanwhile, in line with its social responsibility policy, the RAC conducts hearing tests free of charge for people with low-income statuses, subject to having a recommendation from a Government ENT Doctor or Grama Niladhari.

In addition to the above, free neonatal screening tests are conducted for new-borns born at Government Hospitals in the RAC vicinity; mainly the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila and Kethumathi Maternity Hospital, Panadura.

The Centre also provides free workshops for parents, teachers and matrons of the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind Ratmalana and also assists other schools for the deaf located around the country.
