One million doses of Sinopharm due to arrive today

A consignment of one million doses of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine is due to reach Sri Lanka today, with two million doses expected by the end of the month.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka yesterday received 76,000 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

As of Sunday, 49.3% of the country’s population over the age of 30 had received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. Second dose coverage, meanwhile, exceeds 70% in the Colombo, Gampaha, Matale, and Kalutara Districts.

The Epidemiology Unit states that 12,096,630 persons have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 5,664,905 persons have received both doses. This includes the 52,417 persons vaccinated on Sunday.

Fifteen persons received the first dose of Moderna and 30,274 persons received a second dose on Sunday. This raises the number of persons to receive the first dose of the vaccine to 771,381 and second dose to 255,726.

The first dose of Sinopharm was administered to 6,849 persons on Sunday and the second dose to 14,110 persons. The total number of persons to receive the first dose of Sinopharm is 9,584,978 and the number of persons to receive the second dose is 4,414,527.

On Sunday, 890 persons received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 87 persons received the second dose. The first dose has been administered to a total of 1,327,151 persons and the second dose to 876,363 persons.

Twelve persons received the first dose of Pfizer on Sunday, raising the number of persons to receive the first dose of the vaccine to 254,032. Of this, 103,716 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine as well, including 180 persons vaccinated on Sunday.

The Epidemiology Unit states that the first dose of Sputnik V has been administered to 159,088 persons, but only 14,573 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine.
