Only State and Army insignia to adorn Army offices

  • Commander issues directive to do away with photographs and replace with insignia
  • Move is in keeping with a presidential directive

 

Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva yesterday issued a directive to keep only the State insignia and the Army crest on display in all Army offices, instead of portraits of any important personalities.

The move was in keeping with a directive from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa who directed Government office to only display his emblem and not any photographs of hm.

The Commander of the Army instructed the Directorate of Personnel Administration in the Army to keep all its establishments informed of this directive with immediate effect for necessary action.

The Army is among one of the first to implement the presidential directive, its media unit said in a news release.
