A total of 1,754 persons have been taken into custody for violating the curfew up to 6 p.m. on 22 March, Police said today.
Police also seized 447 vehicles in this connection.
All arrested persons were taken in for staying outdoor during curfew hours.
Among them were groups who were engaged in sports in public playgrounds, keeping shops open or loitering around while drunk.
Police said legal action would be taken against the violators.
Curfew is on in Colombo, Gampaha, Puttalam and Jaffna Districts and will be re-imposed in other areas at 2 p.m. today.
