PAFFREL ready to battle with Election Commission over LG polls

People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections said it was ready to take legal action against the National Election Commission if authorities fail to declare the Local Authorities Election promptly.

PAFFREL Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi said they are hoping seek Court intervention in the next few days.

The Local Authorities Election is scheduled to be conducted before 20 March. President Ranil Wickremesinghe has called for electoral reforms in order to reduce the number of local government councillors.
