PHIs warn public over resurgence of COVID

The Public Health Inspectors’ Union of Sri Lanka called on the public to refrain from unnecessary crowding up at public gathering places, given the resurgence in COVID cases.

PHI Union President Upul Rohana said the number of coronavirus patients detected in the has reduced, mainly due to the unavailability of testing equipment.

He revealed of reports from ground level staff over the sudden increase in patients exhibiting COVID-19 like symptoms.

Rohana also explained that the PHIs are unable to go from door-to-door and test for patients like they used to, considering the unavailability of sufficient resources.

The Union President predicted that the number of cases and deaths due to coronavirus will increase exponentially in the coming days.

He warned that the present situation was very volatile and decisive, since it will determine if the pandemic raises its head once again in Sri Lanka.
