PM instructs Treasury to provide relief funds to flood affected

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday took steps to provide relief to the people who have been affected by the recent floods.

The Prime Minister’s Office said Wickremesinghe has instructed Treasury officials to provide relief, through the District Secretaries, for those affected by the recent floods.

A preliminary discussion has been held between the Prime Minister’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake and the District Secretaries, the Prime Minister’s Office further stated.

During the discussions with the District Secretaries of Kalutara, Gampaha, Galle and Ratnapura, the Prime Minister has stated that the Treasury Operations Department has allocated funds to provide relief to the people affected by the floods.

The Prime Minister has also instructed the Treasury to take steps to provide relief funds through District Secretaries.
