Singapore’s Law and Order Minister K. Shanmugam had complimented Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on the efforts taken by Sri Lanka to assure peace in the region surrounding the Indian Ocean, and had remarked Singapore would assist Sri Lanka in maintaining peace.
The Minister had made these remarks when he met with the premier on 13 June, the second day of his three-day visit to Singapore, along with Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan. During the discussion, the Prime Minister had discussed with the Ministers on how measures of counter-terrorism could be collectively implemented by both countries to eradicate global terrorism.
Wickremesinghe had also discussed matters concerning social, economic, and political interests, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement. Singapore’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Chandra Das had also been present at the meeting.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe left for Singapore for a three-day visit on the afternoon of 12 June. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the PM was expected to meet several Singapore Government Ministers during his visit.
