The bulk of the printed material made available to MPs at present will be given electronically from now on Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena announced yesterday.

The decision was taken at a recent meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Business as a measure to address the economic crisis in the country and to make the system more environmentally friendly.

Hence annual reports, performance reports and other printed material made available to MPs will be emailed to them, the Speaker said.

An officer has been designated to handle the task of making e-versions of the documents available to MPs, he said.
