Plans to re-introduce 19th A, strengthen the role of Auditor Gen.

The Government plans to reintroduce the Nineteenth Amendment to the Constitution and bring about changes to strengthen the role of the Auditor General, Party leaders were informed yesterday.

At a special discussion presided by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, constitutional changes were discussed amidst growing public anger at the worsening economic woes of the people, corruption and nepotism. Parliament will meet this morning where party leaders are expected to speak on the situation in the country.
