Police have arrested a Bangladeshi woman in Dehiwala, a suburb of Colombo, with over 32 kilograms of heroin in her possession, Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.
The 23-year-old suspect was arrested while she was at a restaurant on Galle Road in Dehiwala. She was in possession of one kilogram of heroin when she was arrested.
Following further investigations, the police found another 31.329 kilograms of heroin hidden in the house she was renting at Delgahawatta, Ratmalana when they raided the house.
Accordingly, the suspect was in possession of 32.329 kilograms of heroin estimated to be worth Rs. 388 million.
