Police protection for post offices where ballot papers are stored

The Postal Department has informed the Election Commission to provide Police protection to post offices that have stockpiled ballot papers for the Presidential Elections until the end of the election.

According to Post Master General Ranjith Ariyaratne, this security will be provided to 653 main post offices and the sub-post offices which distributes mail out of the 3,410 sub-post offices.

He added that mobile Police patrols will be deployed for sub-post offices and Police officers will be stationed for security at the main post offices.

The Postal Department says that the regional postal masters will evaluate the required security.
