Postal vote applications open till 16 March

The Elections Commission (EC) yesterday announced that applications for postal voting will close on 16 March and called on public servants to submit their applications to relevant officials as early as possible.

Issuing a statement, the EC said the certifying officers should personally check the applications to verify the identity of the applicant and send to relevant officials in the district.

The 2019 Voter Registration List will be used at the General Election and it can be checked via the EC website: www.election.gov.lk

All State officials including school teachers, principals, Sri Lanka Transport Board, Railway Department, officials and members of the armed forces will be eligible for postal voting.  

The Parliamentary General Election is scheduled to be held on 25 April. Nominations of candidates for the Parliamentary Election will be accepted from 12-19 March.
